Open Question: Where do Arizona Republicans get their crime statistics on illegal immigration?

Republicans in Arizona keep telling the American people that crime is off the charts because of illegal immigration and that border towns are being "held hostage". But what they say doesn't match up with actual crime reports and what border town law enforcement reports. Even Yuma, AZ cannot report any cartel violence in 7 years. Where are AZ Republicans getting their crime stats? ================================ Violence is not up on Arizona border despite Mexican drug war http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2010/05/02/20100502arizona-border-violence-mexico.html Crime Rates Down in Arizona http://phoenixcriminallawnews.com/2010/05/crime-rates-down-in-arizona.html Crime stats test rationale behind Arizona immigration law http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/04/29/arizona.immigration.crime/index.html?hpt=T2

Open Question: Why don't companies outsource to Mexico?

I know a lot of people are mad about illegals and every but that's not the point of this question. I look a lot of companies with factories right on the border that hire illegals which is bad for them since it is well ILLEGAL and a lot of people don't like the whole idea of hiring immigrants. So why don't the companies just move the factories over the border where it would be legal and cheap. Many already do this with China so why not somewhere much closer to avoid every the cost of shipping and probably heavier customs requirements?

Open Question: What else can the kids do for the parents 40th anniversary to make it really special, besides throwing them a?

party? I know that is the "tradition" but it seems, logistically, it would be close impossible for us to coordinate, as the five kids are pretty spread out across the country (well except for the two bums who still live at home who I wouldn't trust to plan anything). A group vacation is out since we every are already planning a trip to Mexico next year for youngest brother's wedding. I still want to do something special for them, though. ANY ideas???? LOL, they meat at a PARTY! Actually, I adore that idea, but it still involves planning a partly, lol. *met*

Open Question: Since The Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Appears To Be 'Clearing Up' Does This Mean No Holds Barred Demand fo Drill?

News stories suggest that the Gulf of Mexico appears to be 'clearing up' faster than expected. Does this mean that The GOP will demand a no holds every out return to indiscriminate drilling? Strip away every Safety Standards and have at it? WIll so called Conservatives wag their collective fingers and say, "you are every alarmist like Al Gore" and demand that BP be fully exonerated and given massive tax incentives to resume drilling? Will the supposed 'clean Gulf' signal a demand for even deeper more dangerous drilling? Will this put pressure on States such as California to open up thier Coastlines to the wildest more irresponsible drilling yet known?

Open Question: Using a korean laptop in North America? voltage question?

When I came to Korea, I brought my laptop with me.. I just bought a plug adapter and it worked perfectly for over 6 months. This week, I spilled water on my keyboard and my computer died. I need to receive a new one, but I don't know if it will be convenient to buy a korean computer. Even though they sell the adapters too, my korean teacher living in Mexico told me that she bought a rice cooker in Korea and took it home, and even though she was able to use it with the adapter, her electricity bill went off the roof because the korean appliances use higher voltage, so I don't know if this would happen too if I bought a computer here. Should I instead try to buy an american laptop or is there any way I can make sure the laptop will work perfectly in America too? I still have 6 months to go here, so I can't wait to receive one back home

Open Question: Why don't we hear more about the wealth redistribution in Mexico?

As someone who has been to Mexico several times, I can tell you there is a very strict caste system. On the one hand you have very well to do Spanish looking Mexicans and on the other are very needy Ethnic Mexicans. Perhaps they would have fewer problems if there was American equal opportunity or Socialist wealth redistribution. http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2010/07/28/carlos-slim-takes-manhattan-townhouse-for-44-million/

Open Question: illegal immigration, Am i missing something here.?

I don't think im missing anything here am i? If i was to illegally enter Mexico wouldn't i be arrested and put in jail, and then i would be deported back to America right? So what am i not getting here? In Mexico you look Mexicans, in France you look dirty french people right, so why do i have to feel bad just because i want my country to have white people in it? Illegal is well Illegal right, meaning someone broke a law right? And if you broke a law there should be some nice of punishment right? Tell me where im wrong? My first two posters are dead right. Most people who came here, did so by LEGAL IMMIGRATION. I am talking about ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION HERE. And i have no issue with people who arrive here and wait there turn. And i have no issue with living next to a Mexican. As long as that Mexican is here Legally. Jessica thats a very strong point, im glad you have lots of details and facts to back up your thinking on this issue. I ask a fair question on Illegals and she comes back with deal with it. Oh were dealing with it every right just look at Arizona.

Open Question: Is the U.S.-Mexico border worse than the 8 Mile Road?

8 Mile Rd. is a boundary line that divides Detroit and the affluent suburbs. Mostly blacks (and gangs) live in Detroit. But North of the 8 Mile is the safest. Of course you don't have to bring a passport to the suburbs. So is the U.S.-Mexico border worse than the 8 Mile Road?

Open Question: could this be evidence of meteorite strike in gulf of mexico?

I have been reading David Thompson's narrative/journals 1789 ref champlain society ref great plains of america. He makes an interesting observation which ties in with this theory. The indians of this region every agree on an historic great deluge which has been passed down to them from their ancestors. This information is on page 189 titled plains. This whole work is extremely interesting with stacks of information and knowledge that would otherwise be lost to us. This narrative is a must read. wikipedia champlain society, david thompsons narrative 1789. On page 189 he observes alluvial deposits from south to north of the gulf of mexico. My gratitued to David Thompson hudson bay co 1789. stevie b, Your remarks are a bit ott mate, you have not bothered to seek out or read thompsons narrative. He remarks that alluvial deposits of 3/4 hundred feet deep have been washed norwards to the rockie's leaving vast tracks of rock and sand right down to the gulf,he ties in the knowledge of the indians and surmises that it could only have been caused by a huge surge of water from the equator to the north, the top soil being therafore dumped at or close the rocky mountains. Im'e fully aware of the points in your statement, but because you couldn't be bothered to check out the information supplied to you by me,you have interpreted the question completely in the wrong context,as a top contributer you should have perhaps a little more understanding and patience, you really need to do your homework before making condescending remarks, your tone is regrettfully unpleasant and unhelpful

Resolved Question: There are many Americans moving to Mexico and buying up real estate. Should Mexico deport them to the US?

Most are going on vacation and deciding to stay or retire there. In a sense being 'illegal aliens' in Mexico. What if Mexican police began racially profiling whites, and deported them if they were undocumented? @yes we can - lol, do you have a tv? Watch HGTV. You'll look programs on Americans buying real estate in Mexico. I personally have a white pal that bought a huge home close the Yucatan peninsula. Says he'll never arrive back. Jees, you guys must be getting your info from Fox News. Americans CAN buy real estate in Mexico. Only Mexican citizens can possess land within 2 miles from the ocean. Look it up, a$$hats. @Sugar Bear - they probably are not as big a drain on Mexico as they are in the US. After every, most people on welfare in the US are white American citizens. Open Question: Why are a wave of black youths in New York taking the immigration crisis into their own hands?

The Consulate of Mexico last night “strongly condemned” the latest assault of a Mexican immigrant in Port Richmond and expressed “profound concern for the recent surge” in attacks on Mexican illegal immigrants on Staten Island. Yesterday, the victim in the most recent attack, a 40-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant whose name is being withheld by the Advance, was back in his Mariners Harbor home, recovering after a group of men swung a scooter at his head, breaking his jaw Friday afternoon. “They hit him from the back,” said the victim’s brother. “He can’t eat nothing, only liquids, soup.” The victim — a construction worker who has lived in the U.S. for the past 20 years — was on his way to a deli after playing soccer at Faber Park when police say he was assaulted by five black men yelling racial epithets. “They don’t like us because we are Mexican,” the victim’s brother told the Advance yesterday. Authorities yesterday said two suspects, Anthony Jones, 21, and Waheeda Sadick, 20, both of Ann road in Port Richmond, have been convicted on robbery charges for the violent muggings of two Mexican immigrants on April 23 and April 26. Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery in exchange for six years behind bars, while Ms. Sadick pleaded to third-degree robbery in exchange for five years of probation, said William J. Smith, a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan. Though prosecutors had asked the grand jury to consider hate crime charges in both incidents, jurors voted not to include those charges in the indictment. “The D.A. has said before in public, these cases are very difficult to prosecute because in addition to proving motive, you have to prove what’s in someone’s heart,” Smith said. The muggings, both of which took place in the Port Richmond area, were investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force as part of a string of attacks and robberies committed by black youths on Mexican immigrant victims. In the two attacks from April, Ms. Sadick, who is described as Asian-Pacific, struck up conversations with the two victims, distracting them long enough so Jones, who is black, could rob them, according to authorities. Both victims recalled Jones and Ms. Sadick shouting anti-Mexican slurs at them, a law enforcement source said. http://www.silive.com/northshore/index.ssf/2010/07/mexico_condemns_staten_island.html

Open Question: is it just me? or are yall thinking the same way?

i was thinking companies with there actual license for ex. landscaping, carpeting,etc.. have less job than before because there is so much people (unhappy to say..... immigrants) competing for the same nice of job so they do it cheaper... do you think there should be a law that people without the license for the job should not be able to do the job?....and they don't have to pay a monthly fee like people with an actual company have to..... FYI: don't take this offensive an any way it is not meant to be like that.... and my parents are immigrant from Mexico that been citizens for the last 20yrs and opened a landscaping business like 10-15 yrs ago but are job is slowing down cause of non-companies charging low prices....

Open Question: What do i do about this guy?

Sort of a long story. I got back from a month in mexico where I started going out with this guy in my group. At home, he lives about an hour away. Now, we never said we were officially in a relationship, however, we were definitely together during our time there. Now we got back a week ago, and I feel like he's definitely ignoring me. We agreed that we'd look eachother when he got back from vacation in 3 weeks, but I don't know if he actually wants to. How can I tell if this guy actually cares about me? I don't want to be to clingy and I understand that he might need space, but I don't want to lose him. Help

Open Question: Does this girl like me?

I just came from mexico after being there for 2 and a half weeks. Since day 1 i met this girl and i have been liking her more every day. She has always smiled at me when i look at her, plus we have alot in common. I asked 2 friends to ask her if she liked me but both said that she didnt answer. One day she was unhappy about something and i was the only person she told. She doesnt seem interested in me when alot of ppl r around but she does when there arent alot of ppl. A pal once sat with us and even when he was talking she would turn around and look at me with a grin before turning back however later when we both were talking he left and she said he should stay but she didnt argue much with him about it either and went back to tlking to me. When we first starting actually talking she sai she found me interesting the first day she saw me. Idk i feel that i shouldnt ask her out since im 17 and i might receive too attached and i dnt want to suffer through another breakup but other times i think shes "the one". Idk my parents have been in an on-off again relationship since they were 14 until they married. Does this girl like me and should i give her a chance once distance doesnt become a problem?

Open Question: I have too many story ideas! Please help me pick one!?

And here they are... 1) To most people, sixteen year old, Avery Dawson appeared to have everything she could ever want. However, at the beginning of summer she found herself with a scatterbrained mom, a new overbearing step-dad, an annoying nine year old brother and sister, and a boyfriend who she’d caught cheating on her with her closest pal. Needing a break, Avery takes her Aunt Nina up on the offer of spending the summer on the West Coast. Avery isn’t planning on making any new friends and she certainly isn’t planning on falling in adore but both happen when she meets Holland Kingsley, the first girl that Avery feels ever understood her, and Fisher Jackson, a boy whose has a beautiful heart. 2) Kacee Tavern is a fifteen year old girl who lives in the tiny town of Sueno, New Mexico with her dad Isaac and their dog Delko. Kacee’s mom Juanita left when Kacee was eight. Kacee has spent the first part of her summer and every summer before that trying to receive the attention of the very popular, Evan Young. Then one day Kacee meets Gianna Willis and they instantly become friends even though her other friends, Beatriz and Destiny, do not approve. Kacee also begins to fall for Gianna’s older brother Nolan. 3) Sixteen year old Wren Whitley lives with her grandmother Grammy, her brother Colby, and her four year old niece Sadie. Wren begins her summer dealing with several family issues, but soon finds a distraction from everything going wrong in her life when she meets wealthy Mr. George Barry’s grandson, Tanner Barry. **NOTE: In case you need to know her family issues, they include A) Wren's mom leaving and not having anything to do with Eden (Wren's older sister), Colby (Wren's older brother), and Wren their entire lives, B) Papa dying, C) Eden getting pregnant and having Sadie, D) Eden running away just like their mom did, & E) Wren's uncle Jesse is very sick. 4) Seventeen year old Carlin Gayle has been doing beauty pageants since she was 5 months old, and has won countless titles. Carlin has put pageantry before everything else her entire life. The only person who might adore Carlin’s pageantry more than Carlin, is her mom, Deborah. As she is getting ready for the Little Miss America Pageant, for those below 18 years of age, she is determined to stay focused and win, especially since Laurel Winters isn‘t competing this year. However, things don’t go according to plan, especially when Carlin meets Otto Wilson, a guitarist who finds pageants to be shallow and stupid. Just as Carlin is beginning to second guess her involvement in pageants she finds out that Otto’s sister Ashley is her biggest competition in the upcoming pageant and she questions Otto's motives about getting her out of pageantry. 5) Beth Corey was 15 years old when she found out she was adopted. If that wasn’t enough, she finds out her birth mom has recently been released from prison and wants to receive to know Beth. A year later while Beth struggles to find where her new relationship with her mom fits in with the family she’s always called hers, she also has to pick between two great guys, Matt the skater, and Ian the photographer, both who have her heart. 6) Violet Keeble has spent the last 17 years of her life trying to live up to her older sister Camille. Camille is super athletic, super smart, and stunningly gorgeous. Then Violet meets Drew Washman. Drew is trying to live down the reputation of his older brother Warren who has been in and out of prison the past 4 years. Violet and Drew help each other realize that they neither one have to be their sibling, they just need to be themselves. 7) Eighteen year old Paige Lilley has just graduated from high school and is looking forward to starting college and a whole new life in general. The one thing that Paige isn’t anticipating is getting caught in a risky adore triangle during the summer before her new life starts. It every starts when Paige meets college student Blaine Michaels and assures him she has recently broken up with her high school sweetheart of 2 and a half years, Steven O’Hara. She knows a split is inevitable, they are going to different colleges and they neither one are too crazy about long distance relationships, right? Didn’t they discuss it at a party or something? The truth is that she hasn’t broke up with Steven yet and when she tries, she can’t bring herself to do it. But that’s okay, isn’t it? She’s only got 3 months til she leaves for college. Open Question: Do you consider Judge Bolton a national hero/US icon after today's ruling?

My family back in Mexico started making their way to join me in Arizona, as soon as news of the law being recanted reached them. Lots of dancing in the streets to Mariachi, a lot of tequila drunk and spilt, many a toast raised to Susan. Sorry, I just saw the news today in a newspaper I was wrapping fruit with.

Open Question: Is it worth reporting my employer?

Ok so how do I start. I work at a hotel in Colorado and my mom was the housekeeping manager. We asked for vacations in which for a while they denied giving them to us. On the last minute he decided to allow us to receive our vacations. We left for a week. When we came back every we had receive is bad attitude towards us, mistreat from the owners (who is also the G.M) and many more. Also, when we came back my mom worked the seven days for a 8 to 9 hour shift. She is on salary so of course the G.M didn't care. However, my mom mention to the G.M's wife she was going to be off Monday and Tuesday. She agreed. Then, when she returned Wednesday the G.M told her that a manager needed to be here every the time and that why was she off when we were "busy". For that, he took her management position away and gave it to someone else. He insults her and yells at her to much not to mention in our employee manual it says when we have more than two years working you are allowed to take 2 weeks off or receive paid. But my mom only got paid one. Can I report him? I need advice please. Also, I have heard him say to mexicans in the hotel that why are they here if they don't talk english that if they are not willing to learn english they should go back to mexico.

Open Question: Will Mexico govt actually lose the drug war and how will this affect USA?

News is gloomy. Mexico President is up for re-election at end of 2012 and he will likely be defeated if things continue the way they are. Things are getting worse, not better. Is losing the drug war a real possibility? What does it mean for USA security if our next door neighbor loses the drug war?
